How do you grow your income? I can point back to friends who have directly impacted my income this year. It’s why I’m a BIG believer that your network is your net worth.
Growing your network (let’s just call them friends), can have a massive impact on your financial life, business growth, finding the right employees, and becoming a solid member of society. Like all relationships, growing and nurturing your friends list takes effort. Otherwise, the relationship can just fizzle away.
You Get What You Give (how to expand your network)
I was working on a client’s SEO, and it happened to be a sermon that covered the idea of “you get what you give.” It seemed pretty obvious a few hours later when I was working on my LinkedIn content. Growing your friends list fits this message as well.
When you give to your friends, you often get back. Whether it’s next week or years later, the practice of giving away to your friends helps you be known and be remembered (2 of 3 things that I think you need to make money).
How You Can Give to Grow Your Network
Giving is easier than you think, takes less time than you think, and is way more rewarding than you think. Despite the fact that you’re probably going to get something back in the future for your efforts, loving your friends and connections through service is a great feeling.
Here are my favorite ways to give to your professional friends list:
- Comment on their posts
- Connect mutual friends via email or group messages (help fill 2 needs at once)
- Make recommendations
- Call, text, or DM – Just to see how life is going
Connecting and growing your network is a commitment, just like any other relationship. Commit to spending 15 minutes a day, and you will feel the impact days, weeks, and years later.
