How I Ended Up Working in SEO and Digital Marketing
My name is Kevin Ekmark. Over the past few years, I have been a jack of all trades. I managed a coffee shop in college. Later on, I moved towards photography and digital media as a means of paying my way through classes. My digital media world became more focused into digital marketing the day I began my internship with Goebel Media Group, in Milledgeville, Georgia. There, my passions for digital media and marketing collided. I became focused, and slightly obsessed with digital marketing.
After leaving my old college town, I returned to Atlanta, making my way through the digital marketing world. I’ve learned a lot over the past few years through my vast experiences with nearly every different type of small business you can imagine. What works, what doesn’t. Can outsourcing your marketing efforts really work? My experience and observations have shaped my views, and vision for where I am now.
Digital Marketing for Small Business
Do I believe that I can be you, better than you can be you?
Yes, I do. I believe it, because I have been able to prove it through my own experience, and recently with the extra mentoring from James Ball. Small businesses have no clue about marketing themselves, let alone marketing on the internet. It either costs them too much to hire an in house marketer, they try to do it on their own, they seek consulting and fail after the baton has been passed on to them, or they just ignore it. Joe from Joe’s Sandwich Shop is best at making sandwiches; not marketing his business online (where Joe’s customers are looking for him.) If there’s one thing you take away from this site, it should be that if you are a small business, you cannot ignore digital marketing. It is happening with or without you. If you are here, I am assuming that it matters to you!
What You Can Expect to Read on My Blog
The gist of this site is that I will be commenting on new digital marketing trends, things we’re up to at TrustWorkz, Inc., what works, and more importantly, what doesn’t. Digital marketing evolves so quickly that there are bound to be a few bumps along the way. It requires a constant attack and diligent observation; That’s what I hope to share with you.
In 2013, I will also be adding my input as what it is to be the co-founder of En Point Designs. Much of these blog posts will be more business centered, rather than marketing.
Please, feel free to ask questions, challenge, disagree, etc! I love a good conversation and to learn from others!
